Jaguars coaches to attend Trevor Lawrence Pro Day

Clemson Tigers superstar quarterback Trevor Lawrence will hold what Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk called "a de facto Pro Day" on Friday. It's only appropriate representatives of the team holding the first overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft will attend.

As PFT's Myles Simmons wrote, Jacksonville head coach Urban Meyer, offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, and passing game coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will travel to watch Lawrence throw at the Pro Day. Teams can only send up to three employees to the event because of restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning the Jaguars won't have any scouts in attendance.

While speaking with media members on Thursday, Bevell said:

"I think for me, it’s just important just to see the ball come out of his hands. I think one of the hardest things to do on tape is be able to tell velocity, and just the way it comes out of his hand. Also want to see the command that he’s going to have — kind of our first opportunity to be able to get him in person. We won’t be able to meet and talk with him like we normally would before or after. So it’s just going to be the workout itself. But excited to watch him throw in person."

Lawrence is set to undergo a left labrum shoulder repair but should be ready for the start of training camp. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr., Walter Football, and three CBS Sports analysts are among the many experts predicting the Jaguars will select Lawrence first overall regardless of how he looks on the second Friday of February.
