NASHVILLE—Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis has refuted a report from Rivals that he altered the Georgia staff that he’s flipped his commitment from Georgia to Vanderbilt.
The initial report stated that Curtis was flipping from Vanderbilt to Georgia and that he had alerted the Georgia staff of his intentions. The Nashville Christian quarterback is expected to announce his decision in a Wednesday-morning signing ceremony.
“Don’t know where all this is coming from,” Curtis said in a Tuesday morning tweet. “Haven’t had a chance to talk to either school yet. I’ll keep y’all posted.”
Standing at 6-foot-3, 225 lbs., Curtis is ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect in his class, according to 247Sports' composite ranking and would instantly be the highest-rated commit in program history.
Curtis has consistently avoided being tied to Vanderbilt's interest in him publicly, stating that his attendance at Vanderbilt's matchup with Missouri was merely a product of his desire to support a teammate that was visiting campus for the weekend. Curtis' tweet is his first public acknowledgement that Vanderbilt is involved in his final decision. The indication is that Vanderbilt is still confident in its chances to land the five-star quarterback.
"I think Jared is the next big thing here, and so I hope to keep him here in Nashville," Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia—who, like Corbin, has been seen in the stands at one of Curtis’ games—said. "I think he's a talent. When I watched him, his arm is crazy. Reminds me kind of (Patrick) Mahomes.”
The spotlight surrounding Curtis will continue to amplify heading into his Wednesday morning announcement at Nashville Christian School.
