Washington Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch appeared on "The Jim Rome Show" with Jim Rome to discuss his time with the program. The two talked about the 2024 season for the Huskies, which saw a completely revamped roster hit the field in Fisch's first season after 13 players were drafted and more left in the transfer portal after Kalen Deboer's departure.

Fisch inherited a program that only had 44 scholarship players and returned only one starter from the team that reached the National Championship game the season prior. Because of this exodus, the Huskies took a step back in 2024, finishing the season 6-7 and 4-5 in their first season of Big Ten Conference play.

Despite the disappointing season, there were many bright spots for Husky fans. The biggest of these being the play of freshman QB Demond Williams Jr. The 5-foot-11 signal caller originally committed to Arizona, but chose to transfer to Washington to follow Fisch, the coach who recruited him.

The QB saw limited time in 2024, spending most of the year sitting behind Mississippi State transfer Will Rogers. Williams Jr. got his chance to show his skills, starting the final two games of the season.

He showed flashes of greatness in those two games, throwing for five touchdowns compared to only one interception. Coach Fisch believes that Williams Jr. could be the next big thing for the Huskies.

"I think this kid has so much potential to be an elite player," Fisch told Rome. "He's working exceptionally hard."
