The No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes took care of business on Wednesday night in Pasadena, dominating the No. 1 Oregon Ducks 41-21 in the Rose Bowl Game to advance to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.

While many players on both sides of the ball stepped up, one player stood out above the rest: true freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. The Oregon secondary had no answer for Smith, who was unstoppable on the outside.

Smith finished the game with seven receptions for a record-setting 187 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Through his first two playoff games against Tennessee and Oregon, he has totaled 13 receptions, 290 yards, and four touchdowns, with both games resulting in 20+ point victories for the Buckeyes.

After the win, Smith, a man of few words, shared a one-word message on his social media, posting alongside former Ohio State star wide receiver Michael Thomas.

"Legendary." Smith posted alongside Thomas.

Jeremiah Smith has been nothing short of remarkable and historic in his first year at Ohio State. Not only did he set the record for most single-game receiving yards in College Football Playoff history, but he also became the first wide receiver in program history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a single season.

Smith is quickly establishing himself as the next in line of Ohio State's wide receiver greats, following in the footsteps of stars like Michael Thomas.

Thomas played a key role in Ohio State’s last national championship victory during the 2014-15 season, which also marked the first year of the College Football Playoff. In that championship game, the Buckeyes defeated Oregon, led by Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Now, Jeremiah Smith and the Buckeyes are just two games away from ending the decade-long championship drought. Ohio State is set to face the No. 5 Texas Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl, another significant test for a red-hot Ohio State team that has been firing on all cylinders since their loss to Michigan in the final week of the regular season.
