Coming off a national championship win last season, Ryan Day’s Ohio State Buckeyes will once again have to prove themselves. With 14 starters from their title-winning team selected in the NFL Draft, Ohio State will need new faces to step up in 2025.
Given the uncertainty surrounding some unproven players, expectations have been somewhat tempered, and doubts about the Buckeyes’ chances this season have started to emerge.
Superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is ready to let the football do the talking—and he made that clear recently:
“I just can’t wait until the season starts. We’re definitely going to put on a show,” Smith said, via Adam King of WBNS 10TV. “A lot of people have been doubting us. I’ve been seeing it on Twitter and social media, so I can’t wait to prove a lot of people wrong this year.”
Smith is active on social media and clearly takes note of the chatter surrounding Ohio State heading into this season. The Buckeyes are expected to debut at least eight new starters on defense, along with a new quarterback, starting running back, and four new full-time starters on the offensive line.
Still, Ohio State typically reloads with elite talent and remains a title contender year after year. Smith, who racked up over 1,300 receiving yards last season, is poised for an even bigger sophomore campaign.
The Buckeyes will open their season with a tough test against the Texas Longhorns—a matchup that promises to deliver fireworks right out of the gate. We will get an early look at what this Ohio State team has the potential to be.
