JUCO Transfer Raves Over Oklahoma Football After Recent Visit

The Oklahoma Sooners have struggled to find success since joining the SEC in 2024.

Head coach Brent Venables will enter his third year as the lead man for the Sooners and has had to make adjustments in recent years due to the unusual number of injuries the team has encountered.

One main problem has been with the large number of injuries in the wide receiving room. By the middle of the 2024 season, Oklahoma lost its top five receiving options and had to make adjustments, leading to a 6-7 record last season.

Heading into the 2025 season, coach Venables and Oklahoma have been in search of finding some more pass-catching options for quarterback Jackson Arnold and have been high on JUCO product Josiah Jefferson.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end from Southwestern College (California) is the younger brother of former Oklahoma standout and NFL safety Tony Jefferson.

Big brother, Tony, played at Oklahoma from 2010-2012 before going undrafted in 2013 and is now playing with the Los Angeles Chargers.

"What an awesome time I had in Norman, Oklahoma, thank you!!" Josiah Jefferson posted on X.

Little brother Josiah also has offers from other Division I programs such as Boise State, Utah, and Arizona.

Oklahoma coach Brent Venables hasn't recruited much from the JUCO level, but there's a possibility that Josiah Jefferson can follow in his older brother's footsteps and commit to Oklahoma in the 2026 recruiting class.

Jefferson would be joining two other tight end recruits in the class and it's uncertain if he's been offered a scholarship by the Sooners or if he would sign as a walk-on.
