Kalen DeBoer was asked if Alabama football would have declined a bowl game invite if the Crimson Tide did not make the College Football Playoff.

This question stems from multiple programs across the country choosing to decline bowl game invites. Those programs include Notre Dame, Auburn, Iowa State, Kansas State and several others.

DeBoer said the Tide did not entertain the idea of declining a bowl game.

“Nall, we had never had that conversation, nope,” DeBoer said.

Teams are choosing to skip bowl season for a variety of reasons. Many are going through coaching changes and feel it is best they turned their sights to the 2026 football season with the transfer portal set to open on Jan. 2.

Fortunately for Alabama, the Tide will not have to deal with the situations those teams find themselves in this season. Alabama is in the playoff as the No. 9 seed and is set to take on the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman in the first round. The winner of the game will take on Indiana in the Rose Bowl.
