Alabama fans witnessed much to be excited about on A-Day last week.
The spring game at the University of Alabama provided entertainment as redshirt freshman quarterback Keelon Russell put on a show. He accounted for four touchdown passes, several players on defense looked good, Lorcan Quinn (transfer kicker) made a couple of 40-plus yard field goals, and there were some good things in the running game.
Kalen DeBoer took questions inside Bryant-Denny Stadium from reporters after the scrimmage. He provided information on the good, but he also updated an injury to a transfer player who was carted off the field.
Noah Rogers, a former North Carolina State wide receiver, was having a very good spring before the injury occurred. He put together two strong scrimmages – including scrimmage No. 2 where he made several consistent catches.
Coach DeBoer said the team is waiting for the MRI on Rogers.
“We will have to get him evaluated,” DeBoer said of Rogers.
“It is so unfortunate, you know, with him getting dinged up. So we will kind of see what that looks like. He will get the MRIs and that kind of stuff. We will see what happens. We will have more information as we go through the spring and summer.”
Hopefully, it is nothing serious for Rogers. He brings leadership and production from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The 6-foot-2, 201-pounder played in a combined 26 games in two seasons for the Wolfpack.
He totaled 68 catches for 919 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Rogers looks to have himself ready for fall camp, but Rico Scott, Cederian Morgan (freshman), and Derek Meadows are next to step up if Rogers has to miss significant time.
