Kane Wommack is just as excited about James Smith as many Alabama football fans are.
The former five-star is expected to be an impactful player for the Crimson Tide on defense in the upcoming season. He continues to trend in a positive direction ahead of the Tide’s first game of the season, per Wommack.
“James is doing a nice job,” Wommack said. “He was dinked for a couple of days and has come back nicely, has kind of hit all the markers he needed to hit. We got him back out on the field the other day, and he looked fresh, fresh legs. He is such a havoc-style player. He can create, generate a lot of havoc in the backfield, which is somet hing I am excited about, and how we’re going to utilize him in that role.”
David Ballou, Alabama football’s Director of Sports Performance, described Smith’s offseason as an ‘A+’ one.
“Every year I got better at something, almost better at everything,” Smith said at Alabama football’s media day. “Trying to be a better person. It just carries onto the field, doing the right things off the field. It emulates life.”
Smith is easily one of Alabama football’s biggest breakout candidates.
