Kansas adds third transfer to its offensive line

Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks want bigger bodies up front.

California transfer Nick Morrow, committing to Kansas on Friday morning per multiple reports, is the third portal victory for Kansas along the offensive line since the cycle opened on Jan. 2. Morrow is headed for Lawrence with 1,000-plus snaps at left tackle and 16 total starts since 2024.

Daryl Agpalsa, hired at Kansas in early 2024 following Scott Fuchs’ departure, has been on the move this offseason, finding veteran and experienced linemen with longevity. Redshirt freshmen Kene Anene, Carter Lavrusky and Greydon Grimes all transferred out in December.

Morrow, a 6-foot-8, 315-pound redshirt sophomore with two years of eligibility remaining, battled injuries toward the end of the 2024 season and much of 2025. He’d start five games for the Golden Bears in this latest season, including a 35-31 loss against Hawai’i at the Hawai’i Bowl.

Should Morrow stay healthy, the Jayhawks could be the right fit for a brighter, second chapter to his college career. Morrow committed to California out of Flagstaff High School (Arizona) as a four-star recruit with 42 career tackles, 3.5 sacks, six hurries, two fumble recoveries and an interception.

Kansas Football Looks Ahead to 2026

Kansas finished 10th amongst Big 12 rushing offenses, and is hiring some guns to protect a brand new rushing group and starting quarterback in 2026. The Jayhawks have already picked up commitments in the interior from Texas sophomore Connor Stroh and Wayne State freshman Trezelle Jenkins Jr.

Simply put, Kansas needs a quality season up front.

Jalon Daniels, having exhausted his eligibility after six seasons, was sacked 18 total times over the course of his big sendoff, and eight of those came during a tortilla-laden 42-17 loss at Texas Tech. Look, Daniels didn’t have the quality, bang-up finish to his career that fans would’ve hoped for, but it’s also pretty clear he wasn’t getting enough protection throughout the year.

Much of the Jayhawks’ front and run game will look completely different under assistant coach Andy Kotelnicki and offensive coordinator Jim Zebrowski. Kansas picked up two transfer rushers in Jalen Dupree (Colorado State) and Yasin Willis (Syracuse), who combined for 1,000-plus yards in 2025.

Any movement up front this offseason also plays a factor in who Kansas rolls with under center, a discussion that narrows to two names – third-year backup Cole Ballard and redshirt sophomore Isaiah Marshall – following the transfer of three-star Oklahoma product David McComb.
