Kansas football added Nebraska transfer Jaidyn Doss to its roster this week, officially securing a versatile wide receiver who also has experience at defensive back.
The Kansas City native chose KU over in-state rival Kansas State, bringing three years of eligibility and multi-tool value to a Jayhawk program in transition.
Doss entered the portal under the NCAA’s early-transfer window after roster adjustments at Nebraska, where he played both sides of the ball. He appeared in five games, catching two passes for 20 yards in 2023 before shifting to defensive back in 2024.
A former three-star recruit and ranked among Missouri’s top 100 wideouts in the Class of 2023, the 6-foot, 195-pound athlete won’t need development time to contribute.
KU’s interest in Doss heated up after he entered the portal, and insiders considered them a “team to watch” for the addition. His ability to play WR, DB and contribute on special teams provides immediate flexibility for head coach Lance Leipold and the Jayhawks.
Kansas has aggressively rebuilt its receiving room this offseason, bringing in transfers like Emmanuel Henderson Jr. (Alabama), Cam Pickett (Ball State), Levi Wentz (Albany), and Bryson Canty (Columbia). Doss slots into that group as another option with local ties and upside; he’s the hometown player who could energize both the locker room and fan base quickly.
The Jayhawks will hope Doss locks down a role before fall camp opens in just a few weeks. With depth still a question, adding a player familiar with Big 12-level competition and with the ability to impact across phases could be a timely move.
