After a 1-5 start to the season, the Kansas Jayhawks looked like a shell of the team that shocked the world by going 9-4 in 2023. But their win over Colorado today not only takes them one win away from being bowl eligible, but was a history-making one to boot.
Today's win over the No. 16 Buffaloes marked their third straight against the ranked team. Last weekend they ended No. 6 BYU's unbeaten run with a 17-13 win while most of America slept. The week before, they beat No. 17 Iowa State, knocking them out of the top 25 entirely.
According to college football insider Brett McMurphy, Kansas' win over Colorado made them the first team in college football history with a losing record to defeat three straight top 25 teams.
Kansas officially taking a blow torch to the Big 12: KU becomes 1st team in college football history w/losing record to defeat 3 consecutive @AP_Top25 ranked teams

Kansas have effectively been the agents of chaos in the Big 12 Conference. Iowa State, BYU and Colorado are collectively 17-3 against all other Big 12 teams, but ran into a buzzsaw when they took on the Jayhawks.
One of the tiebreakers that could wind up determining which teams play in the Big 12 Championship Game in a few weeks is record versus common opponents. Unfortunately for those three teams, that could result in Arizona State getting priority over all of them as the Sun Devils defeated the Jayhawks back in early-October.
But as it relates to the future of the Jayhawks football program, the three straight losses do a pretty good job of showing that the early losses in their season - most of which were decided by one score - were more of an aberration than a real measure of how good the team is.
Head coach Lance Leipold may not win Coach of the Year honors, but these last few weeks have shown that he remains the man for the job on the former Big 12 bottom-feeders.
Will Kansas defeat Baylor next week to secure their bowl bid?
