Kansas QB Jalon Daniels denies report he's out for rest of season with shoulder injury

Fresh off their first loss of the season, a 38-31 defeat at the hands of the TCU Horned Frogs, the Kansas Jayhawks continue to get bad news.

Quarterback Jalon Daniels is reportedly done for the season, according to Zac Boyer of the Lawrence Journal-World.

However, after Boyer's report, Daniels himself tweeted a denial that he would miss the remainder of the season.

Daniels left the game against TCU with a shoulder injury after taking a sack in the second quarter and didn't return to the game after leaving for the locker room before the rest of his teammates. He was officially ruled out in the third quarter when he showed up on the sideline in sweatpants, and now his status for the rest of the season is in question.

If Daniels is indeed lost for the season, to say that would be a big loss for the Jayhawks is an understatement. Daniels has thrown for 1,072 yards and 11 touchdowns with just one interception so far this season while also rushing for 335 yards and five scores.

If there's any good news for Kansas, it's that his backup, senior Jason Bean, started nine games last season and is talented in his own right. He threw for 262 yards and four touchdowns with one interception against TCU.

Looking ahead at least to this next weekend, Oklahoma is reeling right now after a 49-0 loss to Texas in the Red River Rivalry, but it remains to be seen if that will make the Sooners more dangerous or vulnerable coming back home and facing the Jayhawks.

Kansas may be OK this weekend against the Sooners, but the Jayhawks' Big 12 title hopes this season might have been riding on the now-injured shoulder of Daniels.
