Kentucky radio announcer going above and beyond to call Wildcats games this weekend

This weekend, the Kentucky football and basketball teams will take on top-five opponents in games against No. 1 Georgia and No. 4 Gonzaga, respectively, played 2,160 miles apart.

Tom Leach, known as "The Voice of the Wildcats," plans to call both games, according to Mark Story of the Lexington Herald-Leader (h/t Andrew Bucholtz of Awful Announcing).

Usually, in these situations, Leach would work the Wildcats' Saturday showdown against the Bulldogs over Sunday's basketball contest. However, not wanting to choose one over the other, Leach searched for ways to get from Lexington to Spokane. After first ruling out flying commercially, Leach found another way.

"I just asked the people from UK (Athletics), 'Hey, are there any flights going out to Gonzaga after the football game that I could catch a ride on?'" Leach said. "Fortunately, the answer was, 'Yes.' So it worked out."

While Leach admitted he would have chosen the football game had things not worked out logistically, he's happy to get the opportunity to do two big games in two days, no matter how arduous the journey ahead.

"There are a lot of good things about my job — and one of them is getting to call the big games," Leach said. "Why pass up a chance to do one (of this weekend's big games) if it is possible to do both?"

It's no surprise that Leach is a six-time winner of the National Sports Media Association's Sportscaster of the Year Award.

Embarking on this weekend's long trek, Leach shows he's committed to being the voice that calls the action for UK's biggest games, no matter what.

If that's not love, I'm not sure what is.
