After winning its first three games of the season, Indiana has lost five straight and coach Tom Allen is looking for answers. He has been noncommittal about his quarterback in the two weeks since falling to Rutgers, using the team’s bye to evaluate every position. With the Hoosiers hosting No. 15 Penn State as two-touchdown underdogs, the deck seems stacked against the incumbent starter — and there’s considerable value in opposing him:
The bet: Under 220½ passing yards for Indiana quarterback Connor Bazelak (FanDuel)
Assuming he gets the call under center, Bazelak will have to contend with blustery conditions. The wind in Bloomington is expected to be blowing at 20 miles per hour and the gusts could reach 40, making downfield throws difficult.
Indiana will also be without its best receiver, Cam Camper, who suffered a torn ACL in that Rutgers game. His season total of 569 receiving yards easily leads the team, with the next-closest pass catcher standing 260 yards behind.
As if those factors weren’t enough, Penn State comes in angry following a 44-31 loss to Ohio State. The Nittany Lions allow 248 passing yards per game, but that figure was inflated by the 354 yards that Heisman hopeful C.J. Stroud dropped on them last week.
Aided by the wind and the frustration of Indiana’s coach, the Penn State D should be able to limit Bazelak and get us a W.
