Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have come up short in making their 2026 secondary look even more dangerous than it already is.
According to On3's Hayes Fawcett, top-ranked cornerback Chauncey Kennon committed to Florida State over the Bulldogs, Florida Gators, and LSU Tigers.
"BREAKING: Elite 2026 CB Chauncey Kennon has committed to Florida State, he tells me for @rivals. The 6’2 185 CB from Sarasota, FL chose the Seminoles over Florida, Georgia, & LSU He’s one of the Top CBs in the 2026 Class," Fawcett wrote on X/Twitter.

Kennon, a five-star cornerback in the class of 2026, plays high school football and runs track at Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida. Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 175 pounds, he’s ranked as the No. 2 cornerback and the No. 27 overall prospect in the nation. He is also the No. 4 recruit in the state of Florida.
While missing out on Kennon is less than ideal, Georgia’s 2026 secondary class is still shaping up well. The Bulldogs have already secured commitments from four-star cornerbacks Chace Calicut, Caden Harris, and Justin Fitzpatrick, along with four-star safeties Zech Fort and Jordan Smith.
Georgia currently boasts the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class and has 27 players committed to their recruiting class of 2026:
