Just a few days ago, Georgia Bulldogs insider Brooks Austin reported that Kirby Smart was expected to go on a recruiting "tear in Athens" over the next few weeks.
Those weeks have turned into days.
Now, the Bulldogs are up to nine commits in eight days with the latest being four-star defensive lineman Preston Carey, according ot On3's Hayes Fawcett.
"BREAKING: Four-Star DL Preston Carey has committed to Georgia, he tells me for @Rivals. The 6’5 300 DL chose the Bulldogs over Florida, Auburn, & Rutgers," Fawcett wrote on X/Twitter.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman out of the IMG Academy in Florida ranks as the No. 30 defensive lineman prospect and the No. 298 overall prospect in the country for the 2026 class. He’s also the No. 42 player in the Sunshine State.
“To be the best in the country, you have to play with the best in the country," Carey told On3 soon after committing to Georgia.
Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class continues to gain serious momentum and is rapidly emerging as one of the strongest in the country, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Over the weekend, the Bulldogs made a significant jump in the national rankings, climbing from No. 6 to No. 2 with 26 commits as of right now.
Georgia currently boasts the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class and has 26 players committed to their recruiting class of 2026:
