Kirby Smart Gave His Blessing To One Of His Star Players So They Could File A Lawsuit Against Their Biggest Rival Florida
Patrick Breen/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK

Kirby Smart is the best coach in college football at the moment. After Alabama’s head coach Nick Saban retired earlier this year, Smart is making moves on and off the field, and one involved him giving his blessing to one of his players so they can sue their biggest rival, Florida.

Jaden Rashada Heads To Georgia

Jaden Rashada was one the best young quarterbacks in college football last season at Arizona State. Still, after one season with the Sun Devils, he left the program this spring and took his talents to Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. In a shocking move, many didn’t seem coming since he can start games now, and Carson Beck is already the starter in Athens and will be one of the first quarterbacks drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, so there’s no way he loses the starting quarterback job unless it’s to an injury.

Rashada Was Supposed To Play For Florida

Back in 2022, Rashada committed to playing college football for head coach Billy Napier and the Florida Gators, but he was released from his letter of intent in January 2023. A few weeks later, he signed with Arizona State.

On Tuesday afternoon, a report dropped that Rashada was filling a lawsuit against Billy Napier, the number one Gators booster Hugh Hathcock, and former staffer Marcus Castro-Walker over a botched NIL deal that would’ve paid Rashada $13.85 million.

Anytime you file a lawsuit against someone, it gets very heated, but this one is crazy since Florida is the biggest rival of the team Rashada is now on, and his head football coach didn’t seem to have an issue with it.

Kirby Smart Gave Rashada His Blessing

In a CBS article, John Talty, who helped break the news that Rashada is suing the Gators, stated, “Rashada informed Georgia coach Kirby Smart of his intention to file the lawsuit, according to sources, and Smart gave his blessing.”

If you thought the Georgia vs. Florida rivalry was big enough, it just got a whole lot bigger this season. There haven’t been many times when a player on one team has sued a team he has to face during the season.
