The Georgia Bulldogs are dealing with injuries to their starting left and right tackles, Earnest Greene and Monroe Feeling, as they prepare to take on the Auburn Tigers this Saturday night.
However, head coach Kirby Smart provided some positive updates for both players right before their SEC showdown.
Freeling, who has started every game this season for the Dawgs, exited last week's win over Kentucky with an ankle injury.
“Monroe’s been able to do a little bit,” Smart said during the weekly SEC media call.. “He’s been able to run and work out and do some things. But it’s still going to be more like today, tomorrow. We find more out. He has been moving around on it and running on it and doing some on-air things. But obviously, the requirement it takes to be able to strain and play at this level, we got to find out if he’s able to do that.”
Freeling remains questionable heading into Georgia's matchup against Auburn, but it's a very good sign to hear that he is running on the ankle.
As for Greene, he has not seen the field since Georgia beat Tennessee last month, and even then, he struggled to finish the game due to a lingering back injury.
Greene is also questionable versus Auburn, though, like Freeling, he has been participating in practice and continues to trend in the right direction.
“Yeah, he’s running, moving around, been able to do some pass sets and do some indie stuff, and just continues to get better,” Smart said.
The Bulldogs getting one or both starters back on the offensive line would be huge, especially against an Auburn defense that will be tough to stop.
