It looks like there won't be much of a quarterback competition going on in Athens after all.

The official list of attendees for SEC Media Days was announced this week, and among the players representing Georgia is sophomore quarterback Gunner Stockton

This decision just goes to show that head coach Kirby Smart has a ton of confidence in Stockton taking over as the Dawgs' starting quarterback in 2025.

Stockton enters the 2025 season with just one career start under his belt, but it came on one of college football’s biggest stages, during the College Football Playoff Sugar Bowl. Thrust into the spotlight against Notre Dame, Stockton put together a solid performance despite the high-pressure environment. He completed 20 of his 32 pass attempts for 234 yards, throwing one touchdown and avoiding any interceptions.

While Georgia ultimately fell 23-10 to the Fighting Irish, Stockton’s performance in that postseason matchup gave fans and coaches alike a glimpse of his potential as the Bulldogs’ next starting quarterback.

Stockton will be one of 11 starting quarterbacks attending SEC Media Days. The list also features Taylen Green (Arkansas), Jackson Arnold (Auburn), DJ Lagway (Florida), Garrett Nussmeier (LSU), Austin Simmons (Ole Miss), Blake Shapen (Mississippi State), John Mateer (Oklahoma), LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina), Arch Manning (Texas), and Diego Pavia (Vanderbilt).

Linebacker CJ Allen and cornerback Daylen Everette are the other two players who will represent Georgia at the annual media event, which kicks off on Monday, July 14, in Atlanta.
