Kirk Herbstreit Makes Bold Prediction For Emeka Egbuka's NFL Career

Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka had his collegiate career end on Monday when the final whistle in the National Championship Game blew.

Egbuka helped Ohio State capture its ninth national title in program history in his senior season and will ride off into the sunset before his NFL career starts. He finished the 2024 season with 81 receptions for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Egbuka is expected to be one of the top wide receivers taken in the 2025 NFL Draft and College GameDay's Kirk Herbstreit thinks he will be the next Terry McLaurin.

“Emeka Egbuka is the next Terry McLaurin,” Herbstreit said on the "Pat McAfee Show," via On3. “Emeka Egbuka, he will be the guy like Terry McLaurin, even now when you talk about Ohio State receivers, everyone’s like Chris Olave or Garrett Wilson, JSN (Jaxon Smith-Njigba), or Marvin Harrison Jr. People forget about Terry and what he did. It reminds me so much of Emeka Egbuka.”

McLaurin has been a super underrated NFL wide receiver ever since he got into the league in 2019. The Commanders picked McLaurin in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft and he has blossomed into a great receiver, finishing the 2024 regular season with 82 receptions for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns.

He has compiled five straight 1,000-yard seasons and his 13 touchdowns this year were a career high. They don't call him "Scary Terry" for no reason.

Herbstreit thinks Egbuka could follow a similar trajectory considering how good he was as a Buckeye. The next step for Egbuka will be preparing for the NFL Combine before the Buckeyes have their Pro Day.

He'll then wait for his name to be called during the 2025 NFL Draft from April 24-26. This year's NFL Draft will take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
