Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin spoke to reporters on Wednesday, ahead of the team's Week 7 matchup against the Washington State Cougars. One player that was a topic of discussion was quarterback Trinidad Chambliss.

The senior has filled in for Austin Simmons, who suffered a left ankle injury against the Kentucky Wildcats on Sept. 6. On Monday, Kiffin said Simmons is "continuing to get closer to 100%," according to Sam Hutchens of The Clarion Ledger.

Chambliss has been solid as a replacement, throwing for 1,033 yards, five touchdowns and one interception with a 64.4% completion percentage. He has also rushed for 266 yards and two touchdowns.

However, with Simmons continuing to get healthy, he may soon find himself back on the bench, serving as the Rebels' backup.

While talking to reporters on Wednesday, Kiffin made that clear, saying, "I don't even know if he's starting Saturday," regarding Chambliss, according to The Rebel Walk.

However, Simmons' numbers are far from impressive throughout the 2025 season. The redshirt sophomore has completed 34-of-56 passes for 580 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. He also has 69 rushing yards and one touchdown.

If Simmons is healthy enough to play again, Kiffin must decide who gets the nod for this red-hot Ole Miss team, sitting at 5-0 and ranked No. 4 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll.

Kickoff between the Rebels and Cougars is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. ET on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
