Lane Kiffin says Ole Miss football program has reached 100 percent vaccination rate

Ole Miss football head coach Lane Kiffin said Sunday there is a 100% vaccination rate among his players, coaches, staff members and everybody within the program who will be on the practice field, according to ESPN's Chris Low.

"It's pretty amazing and great motivation for our fans and the state," Kiffin told ESPN.

Kiffin said the Rebels weren't even close to 100% vaccination at the beginning of the summer, adding that the players' willingness to get vaccinated shows their commitment to making the 2021 season a special one.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said last month that six of the league's 14 teams had reached 80% vaccination. He also said games would not be rescheduled in 2021 if a team is unable to compete because of COVID-19. Those games would instead be forfeited by the team experiencing an outbreak.

All SEC teams that reach 85% vaccination will not have to undergo the COVID-19 protocol and regular testing.

Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas and LSU have at least 80% of players vaccinated, per ESPN.

Ole Miss went 5-5 last season and won the Outback Bowl. The Rebels open the 2021 campaign against Louisville on Sept. 6.
