Lane Kiffin trolls Alabama on social media
Petre Thomas-USA TODAY Sports

Lane Kiffin has never been one to be bashful, either with his words or with his posts on social media.  On Wednesday he turned his attention towards the program to which he has been very familiar: the University of Alabama.

Kiffin thumbed out a couple of posts Wednesday evening insinuating he was in Tuscaloosa.

It's hard to say with certainty that he really was there.  It's certainly possible, but Kiffin is also a known troller and likes to play around with folks on Twitter/X.

Regardless, the implication is certainly relevant because the Crimson Tide roster has been in turmoil since the retirement of Nick Saban and the hiring of former Washington coach Kalen DeBoer.  Two of Alabama's best young players in DB Caleb Downs and OT Kadyn Proctor were reported on Wednesday to be entering the transfer portal, joining an exodus of 28 total players into the portal

It goes without saying that Kiffin's tweets go to the fact that dozens of Alabama players are looking for new homes.  And as Kiffin is building what appears to be an impressive roster on paper through the transfer portal, he could certainly be looking to add more talent.

Vol fans know well about Kiffin's tongue in cheek tweets from recent ones he's thumbed out at the expense of the Vols.  Well, at least temporarily at their expense.  Former Vols DE Tyler Baron and DB Tamarion McDonald both committed to Ole Miss, and Kiffin posted a picture of the Knoxville airport.  Baron and McDonald have both since flipped their commitments to Louisville.

We'll see in the next day or two if Kiffin fires off any similar tweets directed at Tuscaloosa after securing a transfer portal commitment.

Tennessee and Josh Heupel surely will be pursuing a number of Alabama's transfers as well.  However, if the Vols miss out on some and Kiffin ends up beefing up his roster at the Crimson Tide's expense, many UT fans probably wouldn't be too angry about that.
