The Florida Gators are going to be a really interesting team to watch in the 2025 season. Quarterback DJ Lagway is primed to take a huge step forward and potentially take the team to their first College Football Playoff berth.
Head coach Billy Napier is in a crucial year of his tenure as the head coach for the Gators. With just 19 wins in his first three seasons at the helm, Napier needs to have a really good season to come back in 2026.
What is a good sign for the Gators is how the schedule lays out. They won't be playing a single game in the noon window, which does send a signal that they will be a much imrpoved team.
Florida’s homecoming game against Mississippi State will start between 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Oct. 18. UF has flex times of 3:30-4:30 p.m. or 6-8 p.m. for six other games: Oct. 4 vs. Texas, Oct. 11 at Texas A&M, Nov. 8 at Kentucky, Nov. 15 at Ole Miss, Nov. 22 vs. Tennessee and Nov. 29 vs. FSU.
Previously, Florida’s first three kickoff times and network selections were announced for the season opener vs. Long Island (Aug. 30) at 7 p.m. on ESPN+/SECN+, South Florida (Sept. 6) at 4:15 p.m. on SEC Network and the team’s SEC opener at LSU (Sept. 13) at 7:30 p.m. on ABC. The Florida-Georgia game (Nov. 1) is set for 3:30 p.m. on ABC in Jacksonville at EverBank Stadium.
The noon window, other than Big Noon Kickoff, usually doesn't have any marquee games. This year, the Gators have many games that could end up in primetime, with their opener against Long Island and week three matchup at LSU already in primetime.
Anytime you see a game in The Swamp, it's a great atmosphere, but a night game in The Swamp is next level. We could be seeing multiple renditions of that this season.
