Legendary broadcaster Gus Johnson reveals national title pick

As the lead broadcaster of Fox Sports' biggest college football games this season, Gus Johnson has seen a lot of the country's top teams. There's one program he sees as a cut above the rest.

"I don't see anybody as a threat to Georgia," said Johnson.

Johnson spoke with Yardbarker in conjunction with a partnership with Hampton by Hilton.

"I think Georgia is the best team in the nation. They are fast. They are physical. They are disciplined. They are incredibly well-coached," Johnson said. "And more importantly, from a psychological perspective, they are the defending national champions. And as the dust settles, I think the Bulldogs are going to be hoisting back-to-back national championship trophies."

The Bulldogs have been dominant over the past two seasons, posting a 26-1 record. They won last season's national championship, outscoring opponents 67-29. Even after the team lost several key contributors on a dominant 2021 defense, Kirby Smart's team hasn't skipped a beat.

The Bulldogs set an NFL record with five defenders drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

That team allowed 9.5 points and 253.9 yards per game. This year, the team allows 11.3 points and 270.7 yards per game. For the second year in a row, Georgia has the best scoring defense in football.

If the current College Football Playoff rankings hold, the Bulldogs will be the No. 1 team in the country when the semifinals are set and will face No. 4 USC. A win against the Trojans would set Georgia up for a date with either No. 2 Michigan or No. 3 TCU. While all three have had phenomenal seasons, the rational pick to win it all is a Georgia team that's been here before and proven it belongs.

Johnson's made a lot of great calls over the years. His pick for who will be national champion is as strong as any.
