Longhorns Off to Promising Start in 2025 Recruiting Class
USA Today Sports

The Texas Longhorns are off to a strong start in the early stages of the 2025 recruiting cycle, currently sitting at No. 8 in On3's Industry Rankings.

Headlining their class is highly touted Saraland (AL) quarterback KJ Lacey, alongside top talents like tight end Emaree Wilson, defensive lineman Lance Jackson, Florida's Brandon Brown, and Pearland (TX) linebacker Anthony Williams.

One of the Longhorns' primary targets for the class is wide receiver Dakorien Moore - an LSU commit - who holds the top spot in the rankings. However, Texas remains in the conversation for other in-state prospects and is actively seeking to strengthen its class.

To maximize their recruiting potential, Texas aims to secure commitments from more top in-state players, with Conroe (TX) cornerback Dorian Brew showing signs of leaning towards the Longhorns.

With the recent College Football Playoff appearance, Texas has a compelling case to present to recruits, demonstrating their ability to compete at a high level nationally under the leadership of head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Only 15 prospects in the 2025 class carry On3 Industry Ranking five-star billing. Four of them are from Texas:

  • No. 4 Dakorien Moore, WR, Duncanville – LSU commit
  • No. 6 Devin Sanchez, DB, North Shore – Ohio State commit
  • No. 12 Jonah Williams, LB, Galveston Ball
  • No. 14 Michael Fasusi, OL, Lewisville

While there's still time before the recruiting cycle concludes, Texas is optimistic about its prospects and is striving for another Top 10 class in 2025.
