Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers have done it again, this time adding five-star ATH Lamar Brown to their 2026 recruiting class.
Brown recently trimmed his list to four schools: LSU, Texas, Texas A&M and Miami, but it was really a two horse race.
For a while now, it's really been down to LSU and Texas A&M. Brown is a Louisiana native and plays his high school ball at University Lab High right on LSU's campus. It seemed the Tigers had the advantage in his recruitment, but the Aggies came on strong recently.
Texas A&M made a big push for Brown, hosting him on a visit nearly 10 times, but in the end, the connections he made at LSU were a bit stronger. According to Sports Illustrated, the NIL packages both teams put together were relatively similar, so it really came down to the connections he made.
Brown started as an offensive lineman, but has expressed interest in playing on the defensive line in college. He's listed as an ATH, but will likely end up on the defensive line at LSU.
Brown is the No. 13 player in the 2026 class according to Rivals and On3. He gives LSU their fourth five-star commit, joining Tristen Keys, Havon Finney Jr., and Richard Anderson.
This was a massive win for the Tigers. Last year, they let five-star DL Jahkeem Stewart, a New Orleans native, get away from them, but this year they've made sure they secure the two five-star defensive linemen in the boot.
Brian Kelly wins another recruiting battle. He put together a strong 2025 recruiting class without much NIL backing, but now he's showing what he can do with significant financial support.
