For the first time since 2023, No. 18 LSU and Auburn are set to collide inside Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday. Both programs are coming off monstrous wins in Week 7. LSU bounced back from its loss at Kentucky the week prior with a dominant 31-0 victory over a shorthanded No. 16 Mississippi State team last Saturday. Auburn, meanwhile, shocked the entire college football world and upset No. 1 Georgia in Athens. It marked the Tigers’ first road victory over the Bulldogs since 2005.
Ahead of the Week 8 matchup, the early point spread and more have been revealed. All odds are courtesy of Polymarket. LSU has opened as a 7.5-point road favorite over Auburn, while the over/under has been set at 51.5 points. Traders say LSU currently has a 73% chance of winning the game, and give them a 48% chance of covering the spread.
The last meeting between LSU (then ranked No. 22) and Auburn, which took place on Oct. 14, 2023 in Baton Rouge, saw the Bayou Bengals come out on top 48-18. Eventual Heisman Trophy winner, Jayden Daniels, passed for 325 yards and three touchdowns in the win. They lead the all-time series 30-24-1, and have won two consecutive meetings. Auburn is looking to win back-to-back conference home games for the first time since 2020, while LSU is looking to extend its win streak over Auburn to three.

LSU needed last Saturday’s game against Mississippi State in a bad way. It served as a massive bounce back game, on both sides of the ball, for Lane Kiffin‘s team. The Tigers out-gained the Bulldogs 379-291 in the win, and recorded 10 more first downs. LSU now sits at 5-2 on the season, meaning it would likely have to go 5-0 (maybe 4-1) in its final five games to sneak into the College Football Playoff. That will be a big task, though, as the Tigers will face the likes of Auburn, No. 13 Alabama, No. 19 Texas, No. 11 Tennessee, and Arkansas.
Auburn, meanwhile, is now looking down the barrel at what could be a very successful season in Alex Golesh‘s first year at the helm of the program. The Tigers have six regular season games remaining, with three coming against unranked opponents. Auburn has not won seven games in a season since 2019 (nine wins), but could do so by winning just half of their remaining games this season.
Quarterback Byrum Brown enjoyed his best game of the season last Saturday against Georgia, as he passed for 150 yards and rushed for another 115. He was responsible for two scores, and helped orchestrate his team’s game-winning drive.
