Brian Kelly and Co. have done it again after landing a commitment from four-star defensive lineman Gabriel Reliford, he announced on Friday.

Fresh off of an official visit to Baton Rouge last weekend, Reliford backed off of his pledge to Texas A&M. Now, just five days later, the No. 4 rated prospect in Louisiana is a Tiger.

The Bayou Bengals are rolling on the recruiting trail with 27 commitments in the 2024 class. It's a talent-rich class, but to add Reliford is as big as it gets.

It's clear the defensive line is a position of need for this program, which prompted Kelly to put his foot on the gas for Reliford.

LSU offered Reliford in July, and despite being committed to Texas A&M at the time, the scholarship set the tone for his recruitment moving forward.

The relationships built over the last handful of months provided the Tigers with an opportunity to flip the coveted defensive lineman with several dominoes falling their way this week.

Shortly after the multi-day stay ended last weekend, Reliford departed LSU with some intriguing news circling the college football scene.

Texas A&M defensive line coach Elijah Robinson announced he would be departing College Station and accepting the defensive coordinator position at Syracuse.

After the news broke, Reliford revealed he would reopen his recruitment process and choose between LSU and USC.

Despite USC being named a finalist for the prized prospect, the Tigers had all the momentum after a successful official visit.

LSU Country caught up with Reliford on Monday where he detailed the relationships, player development and more sealing the deal for his decision to become a Bayou Bengal.

Now, Reliford joins a talent-rich 2024 class with what is presumably the icing on the cake to the current cycle. There will be more names to monitor sooner rather than later, but for this program, Reliford was the top priority on the Big Board.

Reliford tells LSU Country that he will sign with the Tigers during the Early Signing Period and enroll early at LSU in January. This will give him an opportunity to get acclimated to the college football scene and be with the program during spring ball in March/April.

Kelly and Co. reel in a big fish with Reliford locking in his pledge with the hometown LSU Tigers.
