LSU Football: Tigers Secure Commitment From 5-Star DL Dominick McKinley
USA TODAY Sports

Brian Kelly and the Tigers have reeled in a commitment from five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley after successfully flipping the former Texas A&M pledge.

McKinley, the No. 1 player in Louisiana, is a Tiger after a hard push from Kelly and Co. over the last few months.

With the commitment of McKinley, the Bayou Bengals have secured pledges from 11 of Louisiana's Top 12 players. A notable feat, LSU remains active in recruiting the Bayou State.

The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder provides the Tigers with a huge addition to the defensive line for the future. Kelly and the Tigers remained in pursuit of the top player in Louisiana, landing his pledge before the clock struck midnight on Sunday night.

McKinley has an official visit with LSU locked in for January, but it was a busy December for the state's top prospect.

A look into his in-home visit schedule during the first week of last month:

Syracuse

Former Texas A&M defensive line coach Elijah Robinson took the defensive coordinator position at Syracuse earlier this month and remains in pursuit of McKinley. On Monday, Robinson made the trip down to Louisiana for an in-home visit with McKinley.

Texas A&M

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko will have the second crack at McKinley on Tuesday while the Aggies look to keep their five-star defensive lineman pledged to their program.

LSU

The Bayou Bengals have turned up the heat for McKinley this fall, and in need of depth on the defensive line, they aren't slowing down.

LSU recently hosted four-star defensive lineman Gabriel Reliford for an official visit, and shortly after, the former Texas A&M pledge flipped his commitment to LSU.

The Tigers have now done the same with McKinley? It remains an uphill battle after not receiving an official visit this fall, but with limited time before the NCAA Dead Period kicks in, it's a given LSU attempts to get McKinley to Baton Rouge for an official. Wednesday will be monstrous for this program while they sit down with the coveted prospect.

Oklahoma

The Sooners, along with Texas, have been two programs receiving the latest buzz if McKinley elects to reopen his recruitment. Now, Oklahoma will get their crack at McKinley on Thursday when they make their way to Lafayette for an in-home visit.

Texas

Again, the Longhorns have kept their head down in their pursuit of McKinley. They're a program with significant buzz and will get the final in-home visit this week when Steve Sarkisian makes his way to Louisiana.

The Buzz: McKinley Changes Signing Dates

McKinley planned on putting pen to paper during the Early Signing Period, but with significant change in his recruitment last month, the five-star will sign during the late period in February.

The Recap:

Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas all remained in the hunt for McKinley with in-home visits taking place last month, but despite it all, he's now a Tiger.
