The Heisman Trophy winners' circle has a new member, as LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels was announced as the winner of this year's award Saturday night. Daniels delivered a season of historic proportions for the Bayou Bengals in 2023, setting multiple FBS records while gashing opposing defenses through the air and on the ground. He finished the year with 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns passing (with just four interceptions), adding another 1,134 yards and 10 scores on the ground. It was an impressive field beaten out by Daniels for the award, as Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr., Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. rounded out this year's group of finalists. A transfer from Arizona State, Daniels' progression over the last two seasons in Baton Rouge has him firmly planted in the conversation among the best quarterback prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft class. It won't be surprising if he ends up being a top-10 pick when April rolls around.
