Major Ohio State Buckeyes target calls off his visit to Columbus shortly after it was scheduled and he’s sticking with his SEC commitment

Ohio State has been hot on the recruiting trail and is now up to 15 commitments after picking up two more in the last few days.

Overall, the month of June is shaping up to be critical for the Buckeyes—as it always is. Ohio State still has a number of official visits scheduled this month, so the class could continue to grow.

However, the Buckeyes were expecting a key visitor committed to a major SEC program, but that visit will no longer take place.

Elite 2026 CB Justice Fitzpatrick Calls Off Visit to Ohio State

News recently broke that Georgia cornerback commit Justice Fitzpatrick had scheduled a visit to Ohio State. That is no longer the case, as the four-star cornerback has now shut down his recruitment and will not take any other official visits.

Fitzpatrick committed to Georgia on June 3, giving the Bulldogs the No. 4 cornerback in the country, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. Ohio State already has two cornerbacks committed in the 2026 class—Jordan Thomas and Jakob Weatherspoon—and is expected to bring in at least three. Ohio State landed Devin Sanchez last year and before that it was Aaron Scott Jr. and Bryce West. The cornerback position is in good hands in Columbus.

In today’s age of recruiting, nothing is truly final until a player signs. But with Fitzpatrick declaring that his recruitment is officially shut down, that likely closes the door. Ohio State will now have to turn its attention to other cornerback targets in this class. With 15 commitments so far in the class, look for that number to nearly double by the time things are all said and done.
