Maryland resumes practice ahead of Indiana clash

The 2-1 Maryland Terrapins are back ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday and a weekend showdown with the No. 12-ranked Indiana Hoosiers.

Maryland confirmed on Monday that it is resuming practice sessions and preparing to play at Indiana on Saturday.

The Terrapins had scheduled games versus the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan State Spartans canceled because of COVID-19 issues within the program. According to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN, Maryland reported no positive virus cases in the latest round of testing Sunday.

Head coach Mike Locksley continues to isolate and work remotely after he tested positive last week.

Maryland followed a blowout loss to the Northwestern Wildcats with victories over the Minnesota Golden Gophers and Penn State Nittany Lions before the virus outbreak threatened to torpedo the Terps' season. Because a majority of Big Ten teams have avoided serious schedule alterations, Maryland likely will have to play a minimum of six contests to be eligible for the conference title game that remains scheduled for Dec. 19.

The Terps haven't faced an opponent since the win at Penn State on Nov. 7.

"The last two weeks have been trying for everyone associated with our football program, but I am proud of the resiliency and positive outlook Coach Locksley and our team has had," athletic director Damon Evans explained in a statement shared by Rittenberg. "The team went through weight training this morning and will practice this afternoon. We are optimistic that we will be able to play this Saturday at Indiana. As we have done throughout, we will continue daily testing, monitor those results and base all decisions upon those results.

"[Locksley] and I have stayed in constant communication and he's feeling good. He is expected to take part in this week's practices in a virtual fashion, then travel with the team to Indiana on Friday and coach the Terrapins this Saturday."
