Meet Four New Oregon Ducks On The Spring Football Roster

#4 Brandon Finney, Cornerback

A freshman entering the flock, Brandon Finney will suit up as cornerback for the Ducks and joins Oregon after not opting to be an early enrollee. He's considered a four-star recruit by 247 Sports and is listed as the No. 40 best recruit for the 2025 class (No. 6 for his position).

During his three years at McDonogh School in Maryland, Finney punched in 51 tackles and six interceptions. Offensively, Finney racked up 13 touchdowns and 1,461 yards. His third (and senior) season with McDonogh saw Finney help his team on both sides of the ball to reach a 10-2 record as well as a Class A State Championship appearance.

Finney will play cornerback for the Ducks. He chose Oregon over 19 offers from around the country including the Ohio State, South Carolina, Penn State, and Michigan.

#5 Theran Johnson, Cornerback

A redshirt senior, cornerback Theran Johnson joins the Ducks after transferring from Northwestern. In his previous season with the Wildcats, Johnson recorded 53 total tackles with 40 of those being solo, two interceptions, and 10 passes defended. His best game last season came against Purdue, where Johnson put up seven total tackles and one pass defended to help Northwestern win 26-20 in overtime.

Johnson, who was brought to the Ducks from the portal right after Purdue transfer safety Dillon Thieneman, will be bringing the veteran perspective needed in the corner position. The Ducks lost playmakers Jabbar Muhammad , Kobe Savage, Tysheem Johnson, Brandon Johnson, and Dontae Manning last year, so Johnson will likely be expected to fill that gap.

#22 Jadon Canady, Safety

Safety Jadon Canady comes to Oregon as a transfer from Ole Miss. The redshirt senior also previously held a stint at Tulane prior to his time with the Rebels.

During the 2024 season with Ole Miss, Canady was an All-SEC Second Team Selection by the College Football Network. He played in 12 games, with 11 starts and switched from the nickel position to cornerback to safety, showing versatility in the backfield. Canady punched in 38 tackles last season with 21 of those being solo tackles, as well as 11 passes defended (a college career best).

Canady is a late addition to the Ducks from the transfer portal, with the former Rebel joining Oregon on February 10th.

#23 Dierre Hill, Runningback

Rounding out the four new Ducks is freshman Dierre Hill Jr. Hill joins the Ducks from Althoff Catholic High School in Illinois. He was listed as the No. 10 running back nationally and a four-star by 247 Sports as well as the No. 5 player from his state (ranked No. 4 in the state by ESPN).

As the Prep Redzone Illinois Player of the Year, Hill helped Althoff Catholic reach a 14-0 undefeated record and a 1A class state title last season. During that season, Hill ran for 2,588 yards and put up a touchdown in 12 games, with 10 games showing multiple scores from Hill, for a season total of 40 touchdowns.

Hill chose Oregon over 17 offers including Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio State, and Ole Miss.
