Miami Hurricanes QB and Heisman finalist Cam Ward just made one analyst look foolish

Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward is going to get the recognition he deserves after all.  And it's a big banana cream pie in the face of one particular college football analyst.

The Canes' talented quarterback was named as one of four finalists for the Heisman Trophy on Monday night, joining Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter, Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, and Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel.

FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt said before Ward decided to transfer to Miami last offseason that Ward wouldn't be able to make a run at the Heisman because he wouldn't be going to a place where he could win enough games to be in contention.  Whoops.

"If he goes - like, for instance - this is not a knock, but like, if he goes to Miami, I don't see him being in the Heisman race, because I don't see Miami having the type of team season that it would require for him to go do that," Klatt said previously on the Joel Klatt Show.

It goes without saying that that take proved to be fodder for the Freezing Cold Takes Twitter/X account.  The Canes surged to the top 10 in the rankings and stayed there until a couple of late season ACC road losses to Georgia Tech and Syracuse put them on the wrong side of the playoff bubble in the final rankings.  Still, Ward spearheaded just the second Miami 10-win season since 2003.

It was also a record-setting season for the Canes' QB individually.  The senior from West Columbia, Texas ended up being one of the most prolific players in the country this season.  He completed 293 of 435 attempts (67.5%) for 4123 yards with 36 touchdown and 7 interceptions.  He set the Miami program record for most passing yards, passing touchdowns, and total touchdowns in a single season.

Ward and Miami were a perfect match for each other in 2024.  As a result, Ward will get to go to New York City as a finalist for one of the most prestigious individual awards in all of sports.  Miami fans will surely all be watching proudly.

Klatt will get to see it too, if he can wipe the egg off of his face.
