Ben Cogdon is a big offensive tackle recruit, and that can be meant literally and figuratively.
He hasn't even played his senior season of high school football yet, mind you, but he checks in at 6-foot-7 and 285 pounds. The rankings are also high on him. He's the No. 15 recruit from the talent-laden state of Ohio and the No. 29 offensive tackle in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
This is good news for Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes, because they just reached all the way up into Ohio to steal Cogdon out of Big Ten country. With Penn State being the other favorite for his commitment, Cogdon committed to Miami late Monday evening.

I need to give a shoutout to my family and @DJRSwework for helping me get here. There is no where else to go but up!@coach_cristobal @CoachMirabal @AlexMirabal_ pic.twitter.com/DVsVRMzKmy
According to Cogdon, both coach Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabel play a big role in his decision to play football in southern Florida. They even went as far as to come up and watch him wrestle in Ohio.
"I've really connected with coach Mirabal and coach Cristobal both over the last few months with me visiting them and them visiting me," Congdon told Allen Triue of 247Sports. "I really love the OL base team and coaches such as Cristobal and how well coach Mirabal develops people like me."
With the addition of Cogdon, Cristobal's 2026 class now sits at four commitments, and it's early ranking is in the Top 25. He joins four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell, four-star cornerback Camdin Portis and three-star cornerback Dereon Coleman.
Michigan State, Wisconsin, Florida State and Kentucky, amongst others, were also in the mix for Congdon's commitment.
