Miami WR Xavier Restrepo addresses his brutal 40-yard dash time

Miami wide receiver Xavier Restrepo shared a post via social media on Tuesday to address his brutal 40-yard dash time from the Hurricanes’ Pro Day.

Restrepo became a trending topic for all the wrong reasons when he ran the 40-yard dash in the 4.8-5.0 range on Monday.

Restrepo was an extremely productive receiver during his college career and works out of the slot, so seeing him run a time you’d love to see out of a lineman was a bad sign. Restrepo knows that and addressed matters.

“Don’t usually do this but I feel like it’s necessary due to the circumstances. During warm ups yesterday before the 40, my right hamstring tightened up on me and prohibited me to opening up and running my fastest. The reason I still ran is because for 2 straight weeks I consistently hit 4.53-4.58 laser in training and thought I could still pull it off. I did everything just because it’s in my blood to compete. With that being said, I am now focusing on getting back to 100% healthy and getting ready to play football! Ready to let God take over!” Restrepo wrote in a post he has since deleted.

If Restrepo usually runs the 40 in the 4.53-4.58 range, he should probably attempt to run it again in front of scouts so he can go on record with that time. The mid-4.50 range is a good place for a slot receiver like him.

Restrepo put up big numbers over the last two seasons. He had 85 catches for 1,092 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2023. Last season he had 69 catches for 1,127 yards and 11 TDs. It would be in his interest to show people he can run at that speed.
