Michael Taaffe Honors Jake Ehlinger Before Texas A&M Game After Fan's Inappropriate Sign

The biggest game in college football during Week 14 was, without a doubt, the return of the Lone Star Showdown between the  No. 3 Texas Longhorns and No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies.

ESPN's "College GameDay" was on hand for the rivalry game, which hasn't been played since 2011 and had implications for the SEC championship, with the winner set to take on Georgia. As there is every week, fans lined up in the wee hours of the early morning to get good seats and, per tradition, made creative signs to support their team or take a friendly jab at the other.

However, prior to Saturday's battle, one fan took things way too far and brought a sign that had no place being made. The sign, made light of both the 2021 death of former Texas linebacker Jake Ehlinger, who passed away after an accidental drug overdose, and Texas coach Steve Sarkisian's battle with alcoholism during his time at USC.

While rivalries are always intense, and playful jabs are always expected, this goes way too far and, quite frankly, was disgusting.

Texas safety Michael Taaffe honored Ehlinger before Saturday night's game with a pocket square featuring Ehlinger's No. 48.

A nice moment to show that he and the program will always be thinking of and remembering Ehlinger's impact.

As for the game itself, Taaffe secured a massive interception early in the game, and the Longhorns went into halftime with a 17-0 lead.
