The Michigan Wolverines finally let Bryce Underwood show off his full array of moves on Saturday, and his performance might just have earned him a new nickname.
Michigan blasted Central Michigan 63-3 on Saturday at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mi., with Underwood leading the way. The freshman quarterback went 16/25 for 235 yards with a touchdown and an interception, and added 114 rushing yards and two more touchdowns on nine carries.
After the game, Michigan interim coach Biff Poggi perfectly summed up what the coaching staff thinks of its freshman quarterback.
“He might actually be Batman. We need to a DNA test on him, because he could be Batman,” Poggi said.

That nickname might stick if Underwood keeps putting together performances like the one he turned in Saturday.
Underwood looked much more capable on Saturday, one week after a frustrating game against the Oklahoma Sooners in which frustrations boiled over on the sideline. Obviously, the Chippewas do not quite represent the same class of opponent, but the performance should instill plenty of confidence in Underwood and the Michigan offense.
The Wolverines travel to Nebraska next week to open their Big Ten schedule. Their freshman quarterback will be aiming to live up to his new nickname in that one.
