The University of Michigan’s football program was rocked in early December when head coach Sherrone Moore was fired for cause following an internal investigation that found he had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, a violation of university policy.
Moore had led the Wolverines to a 9-3 regular‑season record in 2025, including a 7-2 mark in Big Ten play, before his dismissal and arrest earlier this month, and interim coach Biff Poggi was named to lead the team in the Citrus Bowl against the Texas Longhorns.
Moore’s sudden departure has created uncertainty within the program, with several recruits reopening their commitments and current players contemplating their futures amid coaching turnover and roster instability.
Michigan’s football operations now prepare under Poggi’s direction for the offseason, a situation that has heightened speculation about roster movement once the transfer portal opens in early January.
As the program seeks to move on from Moore’s firing, Jadyn Davis, a sophomore quarterback, has announced plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos.
Davis, a sophomore signal‑caller, saw limited action in 2025, completing 0 of 2 passing attempts for 0 yards with 1 interception and adding a brief rushing appearance during Michigan’s loss to the USC Trojans in October.

A former four‑star recruit ranked as one of the nation’s top high school quarterbacks, Davis was considered a high‑potential prospect coming out of Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina; ESPN listed him among its nationally rated quarterback recruits in 2024.
Meanwhile, Bryce Underwood has emerged as Michigan’s starting quarterback, earning the role as a true freshman and finishing the season with 2,229 passing yards and 14 total touchdowns, leading the Wolverines’ offense under Moore before the coaching change.
Underwood, the No. 1 high school recruit in the 2025 class, is expected to remain the focus of Michigan’s quarterback room as the program begins a new chapter under new leadership and retools for the future.
