Today, with the Rose Bowl just a few days out, Michigan football linebacker Joey Velazquez — who is also a member of the Wolverines’ baseball team — entered the NCAA transfer portal. Valazquez was a three-time letter winner in football (and a four-year winner in baseball) with the Wolverines, appearing in-game action from 2019-2022.
Michigan football is now up to three transfer portal entries, with linebacker Joey Velazquez hitting the portal this afternoon just a few days out from the Rose Bowl Game against Alabama.

While Joey Velazquez has not seen much action during his career with the Wolverines, the former three-star Ohio recruit recorded seven tackles from 2021 through 2022 and was a major contributor to Michigan’s impressive special teams units. He also hit nine homeruns and batted .255 for U-M baseball over the past few years, leading the Wolverines to some impressive feats on the diamond as well as the gridiron.
Joey Velazquez joins CJ Stokes and Leon Franklin, a pair of running backs, as one of few Michigan football players to enter the transfer portal since it first officially opened ahead of the College Football Playoff.
