There continues to be a growing buzz about five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, but the Michigan Wolverines are also preparing for the future. On Monday, Michigan landed a coveted commitment from another highly touted quarterback.
Meanwhile, Michigan's current quarterback competition continues to be ongoing, but it would be an upset if Underwood does not emerge as the team's QB1. As for the future, Michigan secured a commitment from a four-star quarterback in the 2027 class over the likes of the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Rivals' Steve Wiltfong reported that Tabor Academy's (Mass.) Peter Bourque has committed to Michigan. ESPN has Bourque ranked as the No. 3 rated quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class.
“The program history of Michigan is unlike many, and the school is top-tier,” Bourque told Wiltfong. “I’m also a huge fan of the coaching staff there. I’ve been fortunate enough to form a great relationship with them.
"... Michigan has a long tradition in winning including national championships. To play at a program with expectations like that is something I’ve always wanted to do.”

Michigan had been trending to land Bourque in recent days, but there was no shortage of interest in the star quarterback. In addition to Penn State, Bourque was recruited by a number of top programs including the Georgia Bulldogs, Florida Gators and Oregon Ducks.

“As I continue to talk to sources regarding the Tabor Academy blue-chipper’s process, I love more and more where the Wolverines stand," Wiltfong noted on Satuday prior to Bourque's announcement. "With that I’ve logged a Rivals prediction for the Maize and Blue to ultimately land Bourque.
“Things really picked up between the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Bourque and the Wolverines during the summer including a visit for camp.”
