The 2025 college football season is coming up quickly and some major news has dropped about Michigan Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore.
According to a report from ESPN senior writer Dan Wetzel, Moore is expected to be suspended for two games early in the 2025 season due to self-imposed punishment from the advance scouting case that involved Conor Stalions.
"Michigan coach Sherrone Moore expected to be suspended for two games for the upcoming 2025 Wolverine season as part of self-imposed sanctions by the university in regards to the Connor Stalions advanced scouting scandal, industry sources tell ESPN," Wetzel wrote.
Wetzel also reported that the two games Moore is expected to miss will come in Week 3 and 4 against Central Michigan and Nebraska. He would be able to coach against Mexico in the season opener and then against the Oklahoma Sooners on the road in Week 2.
Moore and the Wolverines are hopeful of taking a big jump from last season and getting back into College Football Playoff contention. Missing two early-season games against teams Michigan should beat would not be a major issue for the team.
After taking over as the head coach of the Wolverines' football program before the 2024 season when Jim Harbaugh left to become the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL, Moore recorded an 8-5 overall record and a 5-4 Big Ten record last season.
He has put together solid recruiting classes and seems to have Michigan football heading in the right direction.
More information is sure to come out in the coming days about Moore's upcoming suspension. However, Wetzel and fellow ESPN insider Pete Thamel have made this joint report about the expected suspension he will serve early in the 2025 season.
