The Michigan Wolverines have begun spring practices in Ann Arbor, Michigan in hopes of putting a championship team on the field this fall.

Michigan's first opponent, the New Mexico Lobos, is scheduled to face coach Sherrone Moore's team on August 30, 2025, giving coach Moore's team plenty of time to work new coaches and players into the playing rotation.

On Monday, coach Moore shared an injury update on the Wolverines' hero of the 2023 Ohio State game, a defensive back who missed all of the 2024 season after becoming one of the better secondary players in recent Michigan team history.

"Michigan HC Sherrone Moore on Rod Moore says he's not practicing yet, but seems hopeful for his return," Michigan Insider reporter Brice Marich said on X Monday.

The Wolverines could need Moore in the early going as a challenging week two game against transfer portal catch John Mateer and the Oklahoma Sooners' passing attack looms in week two on September 6 in Norman, Oklahoma.

The Clayton, Ohio native Moore intercepted former Ohio State and Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord to seal the 2023 game against the Buckeyes in Ann Arbor.

A senior, Moore has six career interceptions in three seasons as a Wolverines defender.
