Mike Norvell Puts FSU Locker Room on Alert With Big Thomas Castellanos Statement

Now this No. 8 Florida State Seminoles looked just like last year’s 2-10 team, giving unranked UVA fans a field-rushing moment after an incredible double OT victory. Nothing could save Mike Norvell’s side, who even scored three consecutive touchdowns to grab control, only to cough it back up in gut-wrenching fashion. High time, and it will make people revisit that Alabama win and wonder aloud if it was all just smoke and mirrors. The locker room, to put it mildly, needs a wake-up call—and fast.

Norvell didn’t hold back when asked where things stand after this meltdown. “There’s some big steps that we need to take as a football team.” And if you were sitting in Doak or scrolling your phone in disbelief, you probably agree with him. Thomas Castellanos, the electric QB who lit up defenses the first three weeks, came back down to earth.

He finished 18-of-32 passing for 254 yards with one touchdown, but the sting was in the two interceptions—the last of which slammed the door shut. Still, Norvell backed his guy: “I thought he responded throughout. He’s a competitor. He did what he needed to do to lead us from being down.”
