Mississippi State wide receiver Zavion Thomas is planning on entering the transfer portal, On3 reported on Tuesday.
He'll become the 10th player to leave the program since Nov. 15, joining former starting quarterback Will Rodgers, wide receiver Jacoby Bellazar, tight end Rykand Goede, safety Will James, offensive lineman Steven Losoya, running back Simeon Price, wide receiver Tyson Schilling, kicker Carson Allen and wide receiver Nakai Poole.
Thomas was a key piece to the Bulldogs offense this season, as he finished second on the team in receptions (40) and yards (503) with a solid 12.6 yards per catch.
The sophomore was also a big contributor on special teams, as he served as the primary punt returner for both of his years donning maroon and white. He was among the top-5 in the SEC in returns, total yards and average yards in both years as well.
A four-star recruit coming out of high school, Thomas was the No. 49 ranked wide receiver in his class, and No. 15 at the position in the state of Louisiana, via On3.
Nevertheless, this isn't the first time Thomas has entered the transfer portal, as he removed his name from it back in January of 2023.
Mississippi State hired former Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby as its new head coach on Nov. 25. His plan to revamp the coaching staff on that side of the ball is still in progress, but wide receivers coach Chad Bumphis is one of the few to remain with the team.
The reasons for Thomas' upcoming departure nor which schools are on his radar are uncertain this time, but he has two more years of eligibilty.
