Nation's No. 1 QB Sends Clear Message After Texas Visit

The Texas Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian have gained a reputation for having an ability to land talented players out of high school.

To do so, it helps to start making an impression early. On Thursday, Texas hosted Class of 2027 quarterback Kavian Bryant for his first visit with the program as he participated in a camp.

On the same day, Bryant announced Texas extended a scholarship offer. In an article by On3's Steve Wiltfong, Bryant revealed what that means and where the Longhorns sit this early in the recruiting process.

"The Longhorns coaching staff is great," Bryant said. "Great energy and vibes were off the charts and the Longhorns history has been great. So yes the camp was great and blessed to receive the offer. ... Texas is up there let’s just say that."

For Sarkisian, that's certainly a good thing to hear, as On3 ranks Bryant as a four-star recruit, the No. 1 quarterback, the No. 7 player in Texas and the No. 42 player in the nation.

Last season for Westwood High School in Palestine, Texas, he put up solid numbers, completing 120 of 146 passes for 2,442 yards, 34 touchdowns and three interceptions while running for 709 yards and 11 touchdowns.

However, Texas isn't the only team getting in on Bryant's recruiting battle, as he also has offers from major programs such as the Michigan Wolverines, Texas A&M Aggies, Florida Gators and Tennessee Volunteers.

Bryant isn't the only quarterback the Longhorns have shown such early interest in, though. Texas brought in four-star Gunner Rivers and four-star Peyton Houston for unofficial visits on June 1.
