Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies have firmly inserted themselves in the battle for class of 2028 quarterback Donald Tabron II, out of Detroit, Michigan.
As a four-star recruit, the No. 3 quarterback and the No. 27 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings, he's caught the attention of a handful of college football powerhouses. Tabron holds offers from the Michigan Wolverines, Oregon Ducks, Penn State Nittany Lions, Miami Hurricanes and Texas A&M.
While he continues to weigh his options, the Aggies made a strong impression after hosting the quarterback for an unofficial visit this past week.
Following his time with Texas A&M, Tabron took to X, praising the experience and making it clear he's interested in making his way back to College Station.
"Can’t say enough about my time spent at @AggieFootball," he wrote. "They are building something special and the development is real. Can’t wait to get back!! #GigEm #DonDotta #CTFB#GreatDay. @CoachRush_CTFB @Detroit_CTFB @coachelko @HolmonWiggins @coachjoeylynch @CoachTroop_."

Tabron would be a major addition for the Aggies. According to one of his own X posts, he threw for 2,819 yards and 35 touchdowns during his sophomore season at Cass Technical High School.
However, Elko and his staff have a lot of catching up to do. According to the Rivals recruiting prediction machine, Michigan leads the battle with a 48.3% chance to land his commitment. It's, of course, a top in-state program that he's visited 14 times.
If Texas A&M can come out on top, though, it'd be an exciting win. The Aggies have not landed a player in the 2028 recruiting class. Bringing in a top quarterback such as Tabron would give them a big boost for the future.
