NC State football delays opener two weeks due to COVID-19 outbreak

Playing college football amid the coronavirus pandemic is a difficult endeavor, yet three conferences have decided to compete in 2020.

NC State, which is a part of the ACC, has delayed its season opener against Virginia Tech by two weeks, according to multiple reports. The game, originally scheduled for Sept. 12, now will be played on Sept. 26.

The move comes after 27 positive coronavirus cases in the NC State athletic department.

NC State also is sending all students home with concerns about the spread of the coronavirus and will switch to online instruction for the semester.
